SIP + STROLL

DETAILS | Participating restaurants/businesses will be strategically placed throughout the park to allow event participants to enjoy a leisurely stroll admiring the change of seasons in the outdoor arboretum, view unique artwork in the sculpture exhibit, sample delicious ciders and/or seasonal stouts. Each participant will receive six samples of either Cider or Pollyanna’s Craft Beer, along with food samples along the walking path. After your stroll, stay to enjoy select brews in the beer garden at an additional fee.

DETAILS | St. Charles Jazz Weekend presented by Sterling Bank, is a four-day event that coordinates and promotes live jazz music in different downtown establishments. An array of downtown St. Charles venues will take part in this year’s event featuring numerous jazz groups, including Grammy award winning Saxophonist Frank Catalano!
Patrons can enjoy jazz music from lunch through the evening, with the opportunity to visit multiple venues, including the 1st Street Plaza on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Autumn Hayrides
DATE | Fridays + Saturdays from October 2 - 24, 2020, for one-hour time slots from 3:30p - 8:30p
LOCATION | Primrose Farm, 5N726 Crane Road
COST | 8 - 12 people, $120 for the group | 13 - 20 people, $200 for the group
DETAILS | Cruise around the fields of Primrose Farm at the height of the fall harvest on a 30-minute tractor-drawn wagon ride. As a special treat, make yummy s’mores over a blazing open fire. Everyone is welcome to visit all of the farm animals, too. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.
PLEASE NOTE: we are only doing group hayrides this season and preregistration is required. Each group will have its own wagon and bonfire area to adhere to social distancing guidelines. There is a maximum of 3 wagons/44 people per hour. You can book all three wagons for a group of up to 44 people. Registration link is below.

Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt

DETAILS | Remember to bring your flashlight. Parents are welcome to help little ones search the park in the dark for free. DETAILS | Using Tempera paints and your imagination, turn a plain ol’ pumpkin into a ghost, spider or silly face scarecrow. Go free-style and design a unique artistic masterpiece to enhance your fall décor. Each participant will receive a pie pumpkin to decorate. No experience necessary. Everyone is welcome to visit all of the farm animals, too. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. ADVANCED REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR HALF-HOUR TIME SLOT.

DETAILS | This year's Mom & Son event will feature new fall festivities so that social distancing can be maintained. DETAILS | This free family-friendly event is a celebration of the arts and the season, and has several family-friendly components including a hay maze, decorate your own pumpkin, face painting, up close magician, arts and crafts stations, and more, all of which can be found at “Art Central” a.k.a. DuPage Court. Grab your Art Hunt map and head out to find the public art in downtown Elgin. Be sure to wear a costume while you are out and about on your hunt, as several of the downtown businesses will be open for trick-or-treating. All of the events of the day are free, family-friendly, and open to the public.

DETAILS | Taking in the beautiful fall colors at Cosley Zoo is a must-do! See the animals in the crisp fall air, listen to the squeals of excitement from the children conquering the straw pyramid and take in the hundreds of pumpkins scattered on the zoo’s lawn. Apples, gourds, pumpkins, cider, cornstalks, and various sizes of straw bales are available to purchase.

DETAILS | The historic Sycamore Pumpkin Festival takes place on October 23-27th. Thousands of pumpkins, all painted or carved for judging, decorate the courthouse lawn, and food vendors dish up pumpkin pie, caramel apples and other fall favorites. Also in this pumpkin patch: two arts-and-crafts shows, carnival rides, a historic house walk, 10K Pumpkin Run road race and the giant 2 ½-hour-long parade, starting at 1:00 on Sunday.
