DETAILS | Walk through the history and culture of St. Charles. Stroll through the streets by lantern light and listen to the stories from years gone by from a tour guide. Along the way, stop into two local establishments to enjoy a drink (on your own). The final destination will be a downtown St. Charles eatery where dessert will be provided.

DETAILS | As the sun sets on a cool autumn day, enjoy an exclusive opportunity to walk through one of St. Charles’ oldest cemeteries after dark. Explore the cemetery’s dark corners, closely inspect the headstones to see what you might learn, and take a moment to step across the graves - if you dare. Learn about the history of St. Charles graveyards, and hear the stories of the individuals who found their final resting place in St. Charles.

Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt

LOCATION | James O. Breen Community Park

COST | $15 per participant

DETAILS | Remember to bring your flashlight. Parents are welcome to help little ones search the park in the dark for free. Take home a DIY pumpkin creation kit with supplies, instructions on how to decorate your pumpkin and a few sweet treats. Caravan to candyland

LOCATION | James O. Breen Community Park

COST | $5 per child in vehicle

DETAILS | Enter James O. Breen Community Park at the Campton Hills Road entrance and follow the Halloween-themed path for a unique trick-or-treating experience! Along the way, from the safety of your own vehicle, stop at candy/prize stations during this spirited and lively event.

All items will be individually wrapped for safety. Characters will use latex gloves for distribution. Candy may be made on equipment that also processes peanuts, nuts and wheat. DETAILS | It’s time to get spooky! Celebrate with us at the Halloween Hayday! Activities include kids games and crafts, a costume contest, science activities, a Halloween egg hunt, bounce houses, hay rides, and more!

Games and activities run from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. | Magician Jaime Aponte will perform from 12:15 pm-1:00 pm.

DETAILS | Bring your dogs and dress-to-impress at Peck Farm Park’s FREE Howl O’ Ween Dog Parade! Prizes will be awarded for most creative, funniest, and scariest costumes. Line-up is at 1:15 pm in the courtyard. The parade begins promptly at 1:30 pm.

DETAILS | BatFest is Batavia’s annual Halloween themed family event attracting over 2,500 ghouls. BatFest includes, downtown Trick-or-Treating, Mothers’ Club Parade, pumpkin bowl, contests BatArt and games for free family fun.

The event will take place Saturday, October 26 around downtown and at the Batavia Riverwalk and Peg Bond Pavilion from 10am to 2pm. Also at the festival, shop the last of the Farmers’ Market outdoor season.

LOCATION | DuPage Court in Downtown Elgin, Illinois


DETAILS |  This free family-friendly event is a celebration of the arts and the season, and has several family-friendly components including a hay maze, decorate your own pumpkin, face painting, up close magician, arts and crafts stations, and more, all of which can be found at “Art Central” a.k.a. DuPage Court. Grab your Art Hunt map and head out to find the public art in downtown Elgin. Be sure to wear a costume while you are out and about on your hunt, as several of the downtown businesses will be open for trick-or-treating. All of the events of the day are free, family-friendly, and open to the public.
