parent pow wows
1601 E. Main Street, St. Charles
DETAILS: My Recess Therapy developed Parent Pow Wows as a way to address all of the HOT TOPICs we hear Moms and Dads inquire about while at the clinic. We host local experts to speak on those topics and allow time for brain picks throughout.
DETAILS: This class was designed as My Recess Therapy's unique spin on a support group. We believe in Yoga as a great tool for self care and relaxation for both kids an adults. Each class is designed with ALL parents in mind and has a focus on leaving you with a tool for relaxation at home.
DETAILS: Open to everyone in the community, these FREE monthly presentations focus on ideas to manage common parenting obstacles. Each informal, small-group presentation is 45 minutes long followed by a 15 minute question and answer session. Play area available for small children.
DETAILS:Masterpiece Moms is a program created to affirm and encourage mothers of children with special needs. Our morning together includes breakfast, conversation, informative speaker presentation, and discussion groups
DETAILS: BSPN's primary goal is to create a support network for parents of special-education students. Any parent can benefit from the exchange of ideas and information with other parents and school personnel. Parents of special-needs children also have to manage Individualized Education Plans, 504 Plans, therapies, and medical procedures that complicate the already difficult job of parenting. As parents of children with special needs ourselves, and as personnel who work with and care about special needs children in school, we can help by sharing information and providing mentoring to parents who need it. We regularly host informal coffee chats to allow parents to meet and share experiences and information.
DETAILS:This workshop is loaded with content that will literally change the way you view and understand Autism, sensory processing, ADHD and other chronic childhood challenges. You will leave with specific ACTION steps that you can incorporate THAT NIGHT and begin optimizing the trajectory of your child's life.
DETAILS: Programs at GiGi’s Playhouse offer foundational learning opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. GiGi’s Playhouse programs are a place for parents/caregivers to share ideas and network with one another. We invite caregivers to communicate their needs, questions and concerns with one another, and promote connections to be made in support of each other. GiGi’s programs embrace the family and help aid the development of a healthy, successful relationship between parents, individuals with Down syndrome and siblings.
DETAILS: Whether you’re a parent of a child with newly-diagnosed epilepsy and in search of guidance from those who have been there, an adult with epilepsy who is looking for advice and encouragement from others, or just someone looking for camaraderie from others who understand the challenges of living with epilepsy, we have a support group that’s just right for you. We even have groups specially designed for caregivers and loved ones! Most groups meet monthly, but schedules and locations can change, so please call 312-939-8622 before attending any group for the first time to confirm meeting details.
DETAILS: Social Club events are intended to promote friendships and social opportunities amongst the kids with and without Down syndrome. Events are scheduled monthly. The activities, dates and times vary depending upon the particular activity for that month. Cost is normally free or no more than $5 per event/per person.
